SAVE that Soaker !!!

The Gilmour 27025 works PERFECTLY with the following addition -- Drill a 1/8" (one-eighth inch) hole in the center of a PENNY -- and place it in the INLET of the Gilmour Soaker Hose. This will restrict the flow of water and prevent the hose from blowing out !! Many other reviews cited the 27025G Soaker hose failures due to what they thought was the hot climate. I called the Gilmour factory to ask about the multiple failures, and was told this: MOST of the failures were due to TOO MUCH PRESSURE -- The factory tech told me that the recommended water pressure is 10-15 psi with a wide-open valve, and that the recommended proceedure was to just open the valve "a little bit". My Moron Detector kicked in immediately. I thanked her for her help, and hung up. I made a restrictor from a PENNY as outlined above, stuck it in there, and the results are EXCELLENT!! I'm saving water AND extending the life of my Gilmour 27025. I've tried 'em all, and I will NEVER go back to any other type of Soaker Hose.UPDATE -- February 23,2012 -- After several months of use, including direct exposure to Arizona's blazing sun, I've found the Gilmour 27025 Soaker Hose to be far superior to the other types of Soaker Hoses -- and yes, the hose may spring a "leak" -- BUT -- I was able to save my hose by cutting out the part that leaked and replacing the inlet fitting at the new location. I found that "leaks" are caused by bending the hose sharply, so keeping the hose as straight as possible at all times will keep your soaker lasting longer and putting the water where you WANT it !!And don't forget to make a restrictor -- My water bill was noticebaly lower after adding the restrictor to my Gilmour 27025 !!

Can't stand Florida sun

Maybe what I have got is a Lemon (actually 2 lemons), one thing for sure is that it did not work out for me. It worked well during the first 3 or 4 weeks, then multiple Major leaks started to appear. So at some spots, you will see water gushing out causing a flooding situation, while the rest of the hose remain relatively dry. So I cut them open and figured out why. The black cloth or fabric is just a protective layer , the functional soaking tube is made of thin white plastic underneath it. And those plastic material can't deal with Florida sun and has been deteriorated in the matter of weeks. I have found multiple big cracks where the plastic material was weakened the most.So maybe bury it deep in soil ( haven't try that yet) or avoid using this thing if you live in FL.

This works great, already bought more for my home. I have these position in my yard in those awkward hard to reach area. Set them up permanently so all i have to do is turn on the hose. Depending on the pressure is how much water leaks, so it's in your control. They come in a variety of sizes and can attach to each other just like a hose, so if you buy one too short, you can just buy another and connect it. I've used drip systems with all the small stupid parts that constantly breaking, but never again. Things that work, this is one of them!
