Excellent soaker hose

Works very well. Just ordered a second. Saw comments about too high pressure causing leaks/bursting & bought washers at local hardware store before receiving. The soaker hose I received came with a blue washer with only a small hole to reduce the line pressure; very effective. Didn't need to use the washers I had purchased for same purpose.

This summer we are using the 25 ft. Swan soaker hose on a newly planted tree, a Chinese maple. We wrapped the hose round and round the base in concentric circles. Very little water is lost to evaporation or runoff.We have been using a 75 ft. Swan soaker hose along our house foundation over the past several years. It is a great way to protect a house foundation from cracking if it sits on heavy clay soil. The hose waters the lawn close to the wall without splashing. The blue insert seen in the photo has a pinhole to build steady water pressure when the faucet is turned on full. It has a slow controlled release of water over an hour or longer so that it really soaks in, instead of running down the slope.The black end cap can be unscrewed to attach an additional soaker hose, but the pressure tends to leak water out where they are joined, even with the blue pinhole insert removed. Buy the full length needed instead of trying to connect them together.I would not recommend it for vegetable gardens or large clump bamboo. It only covers a swath eight inches wide. I had great success with a 50 ft. length looped around each compact shrub, run along my neighbor's foundation and gardenia hedge. My neighbor returned from vacation greeted by gardenia blooms covering the hedge.

impractically delicate

This product, although handled extremely gingerly, split after 10 days. Even before this I could see that it was developing pin holes, even though I barely turned on the water when using it.Also, it was rather stiff and difficult to place as desired, especially when trying to handle it like fine china.
