3" HOSE KIT

I bought this kit to accompany a 3", 7hp gas pump. The suction side hose is truly massive and stiff. It scared me a little when I received it. It made me wish I bought a 2" pump. In practice however, it worked great and was not too difficult to handle. The discharge hose is very important to priming a gas pump. If you need to accomplish a significant suction side lift, filling a big discharge hose is a big help. Once you get this long column of water moving, it will pull water up the suction side into the pump. Don't cheap out. Buy the kit with both hoses and a strainer. It worked great and is of excellent quality! I was concerned that the hoses would fly around when pumping at full speed. This was not the case. Everything stayed put and worked great.

Don't be CONNED by the word `'COMMERCIAL'' or '''PROFESSIONAL''

Knowing that Amazon frequently offers excellent bargains on high-quality items from lesser-known manufacturers, I took a chance on this hose because I've been very pleased with the genuine "commercial/professional grade" hoses that I've worked with and invested in - B-U-T- this this supposedly `'commercial/professional'' item was just a con job that would cost me too much to send it back. Even though the real, true quality/longevity of a hose can't be proven until it's been used and subjected to the elements and usage for several years, a whole lot of people can get ripped off during those years, so I'm not waiting to review it's longevity - and I'll explain my stance. I've worked on construction sites where genuine `'professional grade'' hoses withstood an absurd variety of neglect and abuse but they usually lasted until someone got careless with a chain saw, and a set of REAL `'commercial grade'' hoses have served my extensive gardening needs for the past 7 years - even being left untrained and outside through the winter once, BUT I had also owned many cheap, light, flimsy hoses that didn't even last one summer when I was younger & poorer; so I'm well versed on the very worst and best in hoses. I think it's important to let every potential commercial user know that this hose is no where's near as heavy, or as thick, or as minimally-stiff (to prevent kinking and crushing) as any high quality hose, and it's significantly inferior to the REAL `'professional / commercial / contractor quality'' hoses that are available!! As soon as I began unraveling this hose it reminded me of the cheap, light, flimsy, frustrating (constantly kinking) hoses that I could only afford in my younger years, AND unless they've made miraculous advances in the strength of such light-weight hose materials over the past few years (pretty doubtful because most of the better-known hose manufacturers are still touting their 4 or 5 "ply" structuring despite the added weight and thickness), then this thin, light-weight hose will probably only last a season or two and certainly won't withstand the challenges and rigorous use by a professional, contractor or commercial user for very long.~ If you're considering investing in a genuinely good / high quality or commercial quality hose that's heavy-duty enough to withstand an extensive amount of use and/or abuse and still last a reasonably long time - and you're considering this one - it's better to have at least one experience-relevant review (even though I can't speak for the longevity yet) before you make a decision to spend your hard earned money on this hose -or- an alternate one. I'd strongly recommend a better hose than this one, EVEN IF you have to connect 2 hoses together to get 120 feet. I also believe that even a very-good quality residential/garden hose would even be better than this one.~ Live And Learn - It isn't just Apex who is teaching us that we can no longer trust the words `'heavy duty'', ''professional'' or ''commercial'' to honestly represent heavier duty or more durable & sustainable products; there are now numerous unethical companies who use such words to try to try to con us out of our money and give us average or even light-duty products that can't stand up or last under challenging usage! Thankfully many web sites are now offering customer reviews to TRY help us consumers make better informed investments and they also help to sabotage the profitability of offering inferior products and the deceptions and conning that some companies are trying to get away with !!! But if you don't speak up when you're mislead, then consumers keep wasting their money and more land-fills are needed for all the junk, companies that make better products can't survive and have to lay off their employees, and unethical companies keep practicing their deceptions because they can get away with it and it makes those greedy buggers even more profits - at OUR expense - so speak up man!!

Apex® Powerflo® IV Commercial Garden Hose

I bought this "commercial hose around 6 months ago and while recently tightening up a fitting to the male end, the 'brass' coupling sprung a leak in the metal. Not much pressure was applied to achieve this. Pathetic. Next hose will be bought without "being hosed"PS: It would sometimes kink and I always treated it like a kinking hose to avoid the occurrence more often.

I purchased a Powerflo IV last year and liked it so much that I bought another one for my second faucet this year. The hoses are the best I ever had. They do not kink, collapse or split and are made of very thick, sturdy material. After working with these hoses, I don't even want any other kind any more.

I agree with the description and the other reviewer... this is a quality hose and hose stand was very impressed. It works well if you dont have alo't of space to use a regular garden hose, or not have alo't of grass in front of the house. The 50 ft.. hose is actually close to 35-40 ft... you do lose alot' of length by it being a coil hose. However since it is so small,, for my space space its perfect.

Decent hose, but know what you are getting

I got this hose as part of a set that also included a reel. The length I have is 66 ft, but I believe my review is generally applicable to any Gardena Classic hose, regardless of length, so you will see it repeated in other places.Summary: The Gardena Classic hose is great, as long as it is used for the right purpose.KinksThere is no truly kink-free hose despite what advertisers might say or users might expect. They all are kink-prone to some extent. The Classic hose is Gardena's lowest-quality line of hoses. Gardena assigns three starts to this hose to indicate the class, with their Premium SkinTech line receiving 6 stars. Consequently, it is not too surprising that the Classic hose is more kink-prone than other Gardena hoses. The hoses with SkinTech are a true pleasure to work with. Still, the Classic hoses are perfectly fine, as long as they are used for the right purpose, such as for above-ground irrigation lines to sprinklers (buried in mulch, ideally), or for any other situation where the danger of kinking is kept to a minimum. Careful handling is recommended.LongevityThis type of hose is not meant to be left in the full sun for extended periods of time. I have heard that the Classic hoses can start to form bubbles when exposed to intense sun light over the years. That has not happened to me, but I won't risk it. I generally cover the hose up when not in use, or bury it when used for stationary lines to sprinklers.WeightThis hose is very lightweight and therefore a pleasure to work with. When combined with a portable (Gardena) hose reel the entire setup is easily transportable, even when filled with water.Flow rateGenerally, I found that flow rates are determined much more by what is attached to hoses (nozzles, sprinklers, spigot, valves, etc.) than by the hoses themselves. For example, a nozzle attached to our 66-ft 1/2" Classic hose gives the same spray experience as when attached to 5/8" hoses, be it 50 or 100 ft long ones. Your mileage may vary, but in general, I believe that 1/2" hoses work well for a majority of situations, such as basic watering of flower beds, washing the car, etc.End connectorsEnd connectors, in my opinion, is where much of the aggravation with hoses comes from. The Classic hose, being from Gardena, obviously fits into the Gardena quick-connector system. The connectors on this hose are general connectors in the sense that they attach to a cut-off end of a hose. They do not screw into male/female garden-hose threads. This feature makes it very convenient to cut hoses to required lengths, if necessary. We have embraced the Gardena system for years, and we are very happy with it, but there are a couple of things to be mentioned here: one of the connectors had recently developed a leak. At first, I thought it was malfunctioning, but then I discovered that robust handling had jiggled it loose a bit. If that happens (once so far over two years), just unscrew the connector, clean off any debris, push the hose back into the connector all the way, tighten connector, and everything will be good again. High water pressure at the spigot could work connections loose over time, so it is best to release any pressure when the hose is not in use. Connectors with garden-hose threads potentially make for stronger connections, but quality is important here. The threads on many common hoses are quite bad, easily crushable or just don't seal properly. In general, it is important to service any connector by replacing the O-rings every now and then (chlorine in the water will chew them up over time).Happy watering!

Junk hose!

I thought this was going to be a good deal but this hose is complete junk. The rubber is more plastic than rubber and it's a very rigid hose that's difficult to roll up on a reel. After only 2 months this hose developed a large bulge in it when I turn on the water. Avoid this hose.

Finally, a hose that works!

I bought this hose after trying several different rubber and pvc hoses. Like many others, I've had hoses that kink, twist and bend, reducing or cutting off the water flow. Almost every hose I've bought has allowed the tap to leak some water. That gets old fast because you're robbing the nozzle/power washer of water AND making a mess at the tap. A number of hoses get wrapped up in hedges, grass, rocks or whatnot.This thing is a champ. The fittings are huge; so big, in fact, that at first I thought they wouldn't fit either my tap or my power washer. They fit and, wonder of wonders, created a tight seal. The 3/4" diameter and heavy duty construction allows plenty of water through and makes the pipe difficult to bend or kink. The differences were visible - no water leaking at tap or power washer - and measurable - the power washer was able to reach its rated maximums. I've dragged this thing around, over and under all sorts of stuff and it doesn't care. It just keeps pumping out water.The downside is that it is bulky and heavy. So it may not be for everyone. But if you're looking for a serious hose that allows you to focus on the task instead of the tools, this is a contender.

If you want a heavy-duty hose this is it. I have spent almost as much money before on so-called "heavy-duty non-kinking" hoses before and this one blows them away. I drag it over rocks, gravel, get it caught on roots and other snags and the thing just won't leak anywhere (if it ever does I'll do an update). It also has a bit of an attitude- it seems that it does not want to coil up very well, but I kind of expected that when I pulled it out of the box. I'll take a larger coil over a leaky hose any time!

SO FAR, NOT SO GOOD - update in fairness

i JUST GOT THIS HOSE TODAY WHICH IS IN THE ORANGE COLOR- OK. BUT, HOW MANY LANGUAGES TO YOU HAVE TO KNOW BEFORE YOU CAN UNDERSTAND WHICH CONNECTIONS WORKS. ONLY ONE THING I FOUND IN ENGLISH WHICH IS TO TOUT THE BENEFITS OF THE HOSE. BOTH FRONT AND END CONNCECTIONS ARE CONFUSING IN WHICH ONE GOES ON THE FAUCET AND ON THE END. ABSOLUTELY NO INSTRUCTIONS IN ENGLISH ON WHICH GOES WHERE. I WILL ASK MY SON TO TAKE A LOOK AT IT AND I HOPE THAT HE CAN SEE SOMETHING THAT I DON'T. I DO NOT KNOW WHERE THIS HOSE IS MADE, BUT IF THEY ARE GOING TO SELL IT IN THE US, THEY BETTER GIVE US ENGLISH SPEAKING AMERICANS SOME ENGLISH INSTRUCTIONS. My son did take a look at the convoluted connections and we decided to hook the hose up. It worked fine. I paid more money for this sprinkler hose than I did in the past for others because they were impossible to lay flat and get the water where I wanted it to go. This lays flat and the water that comes out is abundant. I can barely turn the faucet on. Hose is along side of my house in the back that mainly waters flowering bushes and not small ones, Camelias, Hydrangeas, Azealias and others. Soakers/weepers might work fine for small flower/vegetable gardens, but they take forever on larger plants and my experience is they do not last. I cannot comment on the durability of this one, but SO FAR, SO GOOD.

This is a quality hose, strong yet flexible. I ordered this hose in 25' and 50' sizes to replace standard home improvement store hoses. I needed to keep the spigot open at the house and move the tap out past the foliage growing next to the house. I tried to use standard home improvement store hoses for this purpose but they kept bursting. I would come home to a mess as this usually occurred (3 times!) while I was at work. So I replaced those hoses with these and they suit this purpose perfectly. I have had them set up like this for nearly 3 months now and they have not burst.
